Privacy Policy
This policy explains the information handled by ChimneyScout, operated by Samuel Kingsley.

Information you provide
When you create an account, we process your email address, account name, and authentication information. You may add a phone number to your member profile. Ownership claims can include your relationship to a business and supporting notes. Listing edits, correction requests, and emails can contain any information you choose to send.
Public business information
The directory displays business information such as names, services, service areas, descriptions, and available business contact details. An address is displayed only where the listing is configured to show it publicly. Account contact details and claim notes are not intended as public directory content. Avoid including sensitive personal information in public listing text.
How information is used
Information is used to provide the directory, manage accounts and sign-in, review business claims and listing updates, respond to support requests, correct information, and protect the service against misuse. Technical information may also be processed to operate and troubleshoot the website.
Service providers and external requests
We use Supabase for account authentication and directory data. The website hosting provider and email services process information needed to deliver the site and communications. The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. On the homepage, your browser may request location access automatically. If you allow it, your browser sends device coordinates to BigDataCloud to identify a Texas city or ZIP and prefill the search field. You can decline and type a city or ZIP instead. ChimneyScout does not store device coordinates. Service providers may process information in countries other than where you live.
Browser storage and analytics
Account sessions use browser storage to keep you signed in. Clearing that storage can sign you out. Google Analytics is disabled in the current website configuration. If we introduce optional analytics, we will update this notice and explain the available choices before collection begins.
Contacting businesses and quote requests
Calling a business or visiting its website shares information through the service you choose. Where Request Quote is available, you choose one participating business and submit a service, optional project details and timing, ZIP code, and email address. ChimneyScout sends the service, project details, timing, and ZIP code to that business. We do not send the address entered in the email field to the business; we use it to email you the business's reply. If you reply to that email, your message goes to info@chimneyscout.com. We use the request ID to identify the selected business and manually relay your message without forwarding your email address. Contact details you choose to include in project details or a follow-up message will be shared with that business. Business reply links expire after 30 days. Quote requests do not guarantee a response, price, or appointment. Contact info@chimneyscout.com to ask about your request or its deletion.
Other disclosures
Information may be disclosed when necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, address fraud or security problems, or protect the rights and safety of users and the service.
Retention and security
Account, claim, and support records may be retained while needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or meet applicable obligations. No fixed deletion schedule is promised here. Email us to request deletion or ask about a record. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Your requests
Contact info@chimneyscout.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where necessary for legal or legitimate operational reasons. Rights and exceptions depend on the laws applicable to your request.
Children
ChimneyScout is intended for adults arranging services or managing a business listing. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Policy updates and contact
